DC Day 4

The day started out with a tour of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. It was a lot more exciting than it sounds. We saw how money was printed. This chart sort of made me wish I was taller... or at least taller than Collin.A model of the Wright brother's plane at the Air and Space museum.Collin with the actual Wright brothers. Yeah, they were there. The Smithsonian Castle. The Museum of American History. Collin really enjoyed this one.I enjoyed the American History Smithsonian as well but got really excited when I saw this. It made me think of you, mom! This will be the day. I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. Collin for President!Oh Colbert, you crack me up.This blank space is in lieu of a picture of the Pentagon. We were not allowed to take any and I really didn't want to see what Jamal, our tour guide, would have done if I'd tried. He was a big guy... and in the Navy. We also weren't allowed to use the bathrooms or drinking fountains. The second he said that I was parched and had to pee...

It was a busy day. I was actually happy to see the Metro.

Mr. Talented

A few years ago when my mom was redecorating her living room she decided she didn't want the piano in there anymore so she gave it to me. I took lessons for 7 years but never made much of it (I pretty much suck). I figured one day our kids would take lessons and be the prodigies I never was. Collin thought it would be fun to play so he asked me to put some peices of tape on a a few notes so he knew which notes were which and then he proceeded to pretty much teach himself how to play. He doesn't use notes much anymore, he listens to the song over and over and then plays by ear. Maybe we'll get those prodigies someday after all. Right now he's teaching himself a few Coldplay songs. Doesn't his new haircut look nice? Thanks, Missy, for squeezing him in!
P.S. President Obama's speech gave me the goosebumps! Best Inauguration EVER! At least I think it was. I've never really watched one before.

Why Do I Even Try?

I'll just plan on cleaning my floors sometime in July. Silly dogs. Don't they know they are supposed to wipe their paws before careening across hardwood floor?

Christmas Card Graveyard

The side of my fridge is still filled with Christmas cards. When is the appropriate time to take down Christmas cards? I miss Christmas. Does anyone else miss Christmas? Only 11 more months!Ok, ok... I'll take them down. Just don't forget to send me another one in about 10 months.

No, It's Not An Optical Illusion

There are 3 dogs in this picture. We are babysitting my mom's dog tonight. Her name is Cinnamon. Crazy dog. The reason she looks so much like Marley is because they are sisters from different litters.
I guess it will be good training for when we get our new puppy!

You May Not Have Voted For Him

But his signs were pretty cool
obama.me
Thanks Caryn!

Puppies

Waiting patiently for our new puppy to arrive got me thinking about 2 other puppies we were once just as excited about a few years back. I didn't have a digital camera when we got them so we don't have many pics of them other than this one that we keep on the side of the fridge. I used to be able to hold one in each hand. It made vet appointments a lot easier. Marley is on the left, Oso on the right. I remember taking this picture. You would not believe how hard it was. I think it was probably the only good one on the whole roll.

Welcome to Target!

This is what I wore to work today:
I was asked by 3 people if I had a second job at Target.
Note to self: Only wear red sweaters with black or grey pants to avoid being mistaken for a Target employee.

Cabin Fever

Does anyone else feel like their walls are closing in on them? I know I said I love winter but I am just SO ready for winter to go away. So I bought these at the grocery store.
2 for $6.oo.
And another thought. The new Scrubs was on last night. I watched it. Did anyone else? And if you did, did you get the feeling that something was just not right about it?

Oso Needs a Haircut...

So that the poor little guy can see again.

Birthdays = Food

In my family we tend to celebrate birthdays with a lot of really good food. My in-laws took me to Mimi's Cafe, my mom, step-dad, and Grandma B. took me to Texas Roadhouse, and Collin took me to The Olive Garden. The only one I remembered to take a picture of is my lunch with my grandma on my dad's side. It is a tradition for my Grandma W. to take me and my sister to lunch on our birthdays. The last few years have always been at Mimi's Cafe. This year we decided to try something new and ended up at Goodwoods. It's a good thing I brought my appetite. I think I actually took home more than I was able to eat! Thanks Grandma!

We now have a fridge full of yummy leftovers that I really want to eat. But I can't remember the last day I ate healthy so I think I'll let Collin enjoy them.

How I Spent My Birthday (New Years Eve For the Rest of You)

I woke up to flowers that Collin had left for me before he went to work. Later my mom, sister, and nephew took me to lunch. I got to sit in the back with Alex. We then spent the night at Jen and Zach's playing the Wii, eating Chinese food, and getting tired with friends. Jen made me THE best Birthday cake ever. Tres Leche. It was a great birthday. Happy New Year everyone!
